EDDIE’S LOVE OF RACING WAS INSPIRATIONAL

Jessica-Fay Harding pays tribute to Racing Ahead contributor Eddie Wood 

Edward Joseph Wood, known as Eddie by family and friends, has passed away aged 82 following a long and courageous battle with illness. Born in Newcastle-under- Lyme, Staffordshire, Eddie developed an enduring passion for horseracing in his father’s barber shop. This was augmented by his first winning bet in 1952, reading TheSportingLifeafter his paper round, and visiting Uttoxeter racecourse with his parents and older siblings.
