GAMESTERS ICON was a much improved figure on the flat when met with soft ground and the prospect of soft ground at Carlisle today should give Oliver Greenall's charge a great chance to get his head in front over hurdles. Connections made hay with him in 2019 when he won 4 on the bounce and they might be hoping for a similar run once he does notch his first success over hurdles. His opening mark certainly looks workable and although Spring is on the horizon, it will be pretty testing today at Carlisle which will suit.
His first run in a handicap last time out was promising as he only found a handicap good thing too hot but this race looks slightly calmer and although he has to shoulder top weight I do fancy him to go close.
