Fry expecting big things from Metier
Trainer Harry Fry says his confidence is growing in Metier ahead of the Cheltenham Festival this month.
The five-year-old was moved from Andrew Slattery’s yard to Fry’s in January 2020, before then underdoing wind surgery.
Metier has come on leaps and bounds since the switch, winning his last three races under rules.
Victories at Newton Abbott, Ascot and Sandown have given connections confidence ahead of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
Fry watched Metier enjoy a Wincanton gallop recently, and he says he is now even more confident after watching his charge in action and for more action
He told Racing TV: “He’s our leading light, and he went very well on Thursday.
“We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, but it was just what I hoped to see.
“The forecast is for unsettled weather in the middle of next week, and that should hopefully help us see a combination of good to soft and soft, and that would be perfect for him.”
