Last year an acquaintance asked me if there was such a thing as jockey preferences. The person asking the question argued that it was all about the horse and the jockey was just along for the ride and made very little difference to the final result as they could all ride and all they had to do was stay on. Yes, the horse is the most important factor but many things determine a result. Going and Distance are very important but the person on top can be just as vital.
