SUPER MARE ALMOST DIED AS A FOAL

Graham Buddry remembers the great dual Champion Hurdle-Gold Cup winner Dawn Run

YESTERDAY’S HEROES
Only one horse has won the two mile Champion Hurdle and the 3¼ mile Cheltenham Gold Cup. That horse is, of course, Dawn Run.
Foaled on 27 April 1978 by that great sire of National Hunt horses, Deep Run, Dawn Run’s pedigree could also name the wonderful Fortina as a great grandsire.
