At the beginning of the season a good friend of mine suggested that having an ante-post bet on the Cheltenham Festival was like growing money and he unfolded a betting slip with £250 five-horse acca for the March spectacular.
Six months on and due to injury and/or loss of form, four of the five won’t even make it to the Festival, let alone win and the sole survivor is Yorkhill for Ryanair Chase – enough said!
