Trainer William Haggas says Headway is in “pretty good shape” ahead of the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.
The colt impressed on a seven-furlong workout at Newmarket as part of his preparations for the race on May 5.
Haggas was delighted with Headway’s display but warned his charge will not be involved if conditions do not suit.
“It was exactly what I hoped it would be – a nice blowout,” he told Sky Sports. “The horse was in pretty good shape and he’s pretty fit.
“He moved smoothly and handled the dip all right, and relaxed well.
“Our job is to get him there in one piece, at the top of his game, and we’ve got 10 days to do that.”
He added: “He wants fast ground as he ran twice in soft ground and ran awfully. If it’s soft he won’t go for the Guineas.”
