Robbie Power has vowed that Sizing John ‘will be back’ after he was ruled out of the Cheltenham Gold Cup because of injury.
It was confirmed late in the week that the 2017 champion would not be returning to defend his crown after it was revealed that he had suffered a hairline non-displaced fracture of his pelvis following routine checks on Thursday afternoon.
Jessica Harrington described the withdrawal of Sizing John as a ‘massive blow’ at the time, while jockey Power is refusing to be too downbeat and is looking to get back on the eight-year-old back in the future.
“We’re all very disappointed but don’t worry, he’ll be back,” he posted on social media.
Harrington also revealed that following a fortnight of box rest, Sizing John will start his rehabilitation with some walking exercise.
