Ben Morgan’s Saturday tips – Beverley & Curragh – Angel not making up the Numbers at Beverley

Our resident tipster Ben Morgan gives his best picks from Saturday’s action at and

Beverley 2.10 – Chepstow Numbers add up well

I was mightily impressed by ANGEL NUMBERS debut performance at .

Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole are forging quite a team on the level this season, and I’d think this two-year-old will fly the flag for them in some fancy races this year.

Hollie Doyle merely had to shake up this speedy filly for her to quicken away in good style in what looked a competitive race beforehand.

The form hasn’t been tested but she couldn’t have been any more impressive and the times of the race looked healthy too for a novice race.

It looks like a strong renewal of the Hilary Needler on Saturday but I think this filly has every chance.

Curragh 3.05 – Iberian to bring the heat on Saturday

The Group 2 Greenlands Stakes looks a wide open event despite the current short price favourite Storm Boy heading the market at 7/4.

There are plenty of unknowns about him on his stable debut for so I would like to look elsewhere.

That brings me to IBERIAN who impressed me at despite hanging left in the closing stages which cost him the race.

He made up a lot of ground very quickly with the minimum of fuss to take himself into the race which surprised me as I always saw him as more of a stayer than a speedster but his ability to stay that bit further than 6f should suit on Saturday as the Curragh is a stiff 6f.

He is still unexposed and could yet make up into a top sprinter and I am interested to see how he fares tomorrow as he looks a sound each way bet at 7/1.

Curragh 3.40 – Irish 2000 Guineas more open than market suggests

I wouldn’t be rushing into back Field Of Gold at on here as I think this is a deeper race than it first looks.

His stablemate Cosmic Year looks primed for a bold showing as I don’t think we have seen the best of him yet.

Officer is still lightly raced and is open to any amount of improvement for top . Hotazhell has the form in the book, whilst Expanded and Scorthy Champ were both well fancied for the English version of this race a few weeks back.

Brian Meehan’s RASHABAR keeps getting overlooked at the top level but continues to run his race and I fancy him to do the same again on Saturday.

His Greenham run initially makes him look exposed but the form of the race has since worked out well with the winner almost taking success himself in the French 2000 Guineas, just getting touched off on the line.

Meehan said his horse would have needed that run and as we have seen plenty of times before, he is a good target trainer who can spring a surprise in a race like this so at 20/1 he looks a great each-way bet in a mouth-watering race.
