Big things look to lie ahead for the classy Time Test who sprinted clear of his opponents to win the Tercentenary Stakes in fine style.
The well-backed 15/8 favourite was always travelling well under Frankie Dettori on the outside of the field and when asked for his effort, the reaction was instantaneous as he sprinted clear of runner-up Peacock with Mustadeem in third.
Dettori returned to a rapturous welcome from the crowd and was delighted by his mount’s performance.
“It was a perfect race. I had so much horse I pulled him onto the outside and he took off,” enthused the popular jockey who was riding his second winner of this Royal Ascot meeting and the 51st of his career.
The son of Dubawi was racing for just the fifth time and having improved from his previous Newbury handicap victory, trainer Roger Charlton says he is looking forward to his progressive three-year-old stepping up in class again.
However, with no Group 2 races available for just three-year-olds between now and the end of the season, he said his colt may next run in France but he will be entered in the Group 1 International Stakes at York where he would take on older horses.
