Mike Francis thinks Mick Appleby’s star can follow up his Royal Ascot win at York

We have the numbers from the first two days of Royal Ascot and it’s slightly surprising that BIG EVS (105) has clocked the largest speed figure as we go to print.
Mick Appleby’s youngster was beating a useful yardstick in Aidan O’Brien juvenile Johanne Brahms and he looks an excellent contender for the Molecomb Stakes at York later this season. I am sure Yorkshire-based trainer Appleby would love to win that on the Knavesmire.
