What Is The Kentucky Derby?
One of the most famous races in the world is the Kentucky Derby, the first leg of the American Triple Crown series for 3-year-old Thoroughbreds. Only 13 horses throughout history have won the Triple Crown. In recent years only American Pharoah in 2015 and Justify in 2018. They were the first since 1978.
The most famous horse in Triple Crown history is probably Secretariat, who back in 1973 won all three races but set fastest times for each which still stand! In 2010 he became the subject of an eponymous Hollywood movie about his feats.
