HAGGAS WITH A TREBLE CHANCE: Paul Ferguson on the end of month Plate highlight followed by stellar Eclipse

Paul Ferguson looks ahead to the Northumberland Plate and Coral-Eclipse, highlighting Klassleader and Constitution River as horses to follow.

Before we get into July, there is the small matter of the Northumberland Plate from Newcastle (Saturday, June 27), a race in which William Haggas seems to hold a strong hand.

At the time of writing, the Newmarket trainer is responsible for the top three in the ante-post market, with Valiancy – a winner at Hamilton on reappearance – the least appealing of the trio.
He also holds Royal Ascot entry, so has options, as does the same owners’ Opportunity, who bolted up at Carlisle on his return and has since been upped by 8lb to 100.
