In total, there are FIVE ITV Racing contests to take in on Friday at British flat racing HQ.

We also get a chance to see some of the stars of the future in the Group Three Cornwallis Stakes (1:15pm) and Oh So Sharp Stakes (1:50pm).

So, let’s get going – you can see Andy Newton’s 1-2-3 best bets for the ITV Races on Friday at Newmarket, including his NAP.

Folk Pageant wins at Newmarket

13:15 NEWMARKET – Newmarket Academy Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (2yo) 5f ITV

MUSSAB looks the value call here over the likely favourite Flann Sunna.

This Fahey runner has taken three races to get the winning thread, but has kicked on in his last two starts – winning at Newcastle and Ayr last time.

That most recent success came in a Listed contest, so will need to step up in this slightly higher grade, but did it well at the line.

He’s only rated 2lbs lower than Flann Sunna, who ran well the last day (3rd in the Flying Childers) – who also doesn’t look the most straight-forward.

Any rain would also be fine for the pick, with that last win coming on soft – plus 8 of the last 23 winners of this race actually ran at Ayr in their most recent outing.

While, let’s not forget – he was only beaten 3 3/4 lengths (3rd) to Orthodox in the Norfolk Stakes in June at Royal Ascot (watch below).

And that form looks okay with the winner landing the G1 Middle Park Stakes since.

Fast Track and In The Black, who were 4th and 5th in the Flying Childers are noted too – as Marco Polo, who should be more at home over this 5f trip after taking a tug the last day over 6f.

🥇MUSSAB (e/w)
🥈Flann Sunna
🥉Marco Polo

13:50 NEWMARKET – Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) Cl1 (2yo) 7f ITV

SWELTERING is chanced in what looks a very competitive renewal of the Oh So Sharp Stakes.

This Andrew Balding 2yold filly powered away to win a novice at Leicester last month and looks the sort to have more to come.

That win also came on good-to-soft, so any more rain will be fine and the 6th (From Afar) has since boosted the form to win at Ponty.

Of course, this is a step up in grade, but connections clearly feel she’s up to the task and have also booked Oisin Murphy.

The pair teamed up to take this pot ten years ago too with Poets’ Vanity, while stall 1 also looks a plus.

Why? 6 of the last 7 winners hailed from gated 3 or lower.

With that in mind, Nuit d’ Eclair (stall 3) and Ballydoyle’s Golden Ring (2) might be worth a small interest too, if prices allow.

🥇SWELTERING (e/w)
🥈Nuit d’ Eclair
🥉Golden Ring

14:25 NEWMARKET – Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards Challenge Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f ITV

TIME TO TURN gets the nod here for the Godolphin boys – now eased in grade having run in a Group One in France last time.

That said, despite finishing 6th that day, was only 3 lengths off the winner and before that ran second to the classy Talk Of New York at Sandown in May.

He’s had another 3 months to freshen up and having won at the G3 Horris Hill at Newbury on soft ground, any more rain is fine.

William Buick rides too and he likes this race – winning 2 of the last 5 – including in 2021 for Charlie Appleby.

The final plus is the draw (6) as 70% of the last 10 winners came between gates 5-9.

Of the rest, Andrew Balding’s Flora Of Bermuda is the likely jolly and has had a top season but fillies are only 2-23 in this race.

Balding also has the frustrating Never So Brave, but he’s winless in seven now.

So the danger can come from Sceptre Stakes winner Pina Sonata – despite being another filly – but she’s unexposed over this trip (7f) and beat a fair field the last day at Donny.

🥇TIME TO TURN
🥈Pina Sonata
🥉Flora Of Bermuda

14:57 NEWMARKET – bet365 Fillies’ Mile (Group 1) Cl1 (2yo) 1m ITV

MUSICAL TIMES is already one of the big fancies for next season’s 1,000 Guineas after impressing in her three wins to date.

The most recent was a facile 7 1/2 length win of the G2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster (watch below) – on what was her first try over a mile.

Desert Flower won this for Godolphin last season and followed-up in the 1,000 Guineas, so the ‘boys in blue’ will be hoping for more of the same.

A certain Sun Goddess might have something to say about that, but for now – Musical Times should be hitting the right notes here.

Of the others, Longchamp G2 winner Rogue Passion looks one of the main threats.

But Forbidden Fire was impressive in the Flying Scotsman at Doncaster (Listed) last time and the same can be said for Lex Victoria at Kempton.

Both could outrun their odds and I’ll take one of this pair to follow home Musical Times.

🥇MUSICAL TIMES
🥈Lex Victoria
🥉Forbidden Fire

15:30 NEWMARKET – Old Rowley Cup Handicap (Heritage Handicap) (GBBPlus Race) Cl2 (3yo) 1m4f ITV

STUDY OF WORDS  is the call to round off what could be a top day at HQ for Godolphin.

Trainer Charlie Appleby has good record in this race too – winning 3 of the last 9, with William Buick on two of those.

This Frankel 3yold has been gelded since we last saw him running 2nd to Al Azd at Ascot in July.

But also returns to the Rowley Mile, where he stormed away to win a 1m2f maiden by 15 lengths this time last season.

Of the rest, Ryan Moore is 1-2 on Archers Bay and won nicely on him in the Shergar Cup in August.

While recent winners Liberate, Turty Tree and Devil’s Peak are others to note – especially the last-named who won well at Doncaster recently.

But William Buick has ridden him to his last two wins and he’s on the main pick – albeit retained by Godolphin.

I’ll take Study Of Words to deliver the perfect speech in the final ITV Racing contest on Friday.

🥇STUDY OF WORDS
🥈Archers Bay
🥉Devil’s Peak
