See Andy Newton’s ITV Horse Racing tips on Saturday 26th September – with five races live from Newmarket on day three of their Cambridgeshire Meeting.
These races at flat racing’s HQ include the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes and the ultra-competitive Cambridgeshire Handicap.
The Cheveley Park Stakes looks a crackerjack of a race too, with a three way clash between Sun Goddess, Senorita Bonita and Libertango.
While the trainer Karl Burke and jockey Clifford Lee will be looking to win a third straight Cambridgeshire Handicap – they team up with Thunder Run.

Andy Newton’s ITV Newmarket Horse Racing Tips On Saturday 26th September, 2026
13:22 NEWMARKET – British Stallion Studs EBF “Jersey Lily” Fillies’ Nursery Handicap Cl2 (2yo) 7f ITV
BYMIDDAYTOMORROW and ZEPHYRA will be my small plays against the field here – in what looks a trick ITV opener at HQ.
They eye will be draw to the Ralph Beckett runner Sierra Belle, who was a good winner at Kempton last time out and should be suited by this step up to 7f.
But was also beaten at 4/9 at Salisbury the time before, which would be the worry – not to mention her being little value.
Polyxena is unbeaten and noted too and Billy Loughnane rides Al Samsama for Richard Hughes, but I’m not convinced that yard is in great form at the moment.
So a chance is take on BYMIDDAYTOMORROW, who is a bit more exposed than the others here (6 runs), but has won two of those.
She was 3rd last time to the above average Speed Of Sound and the 2nd that day Angel In My Heart ran okay (3rd) in a G3 at Ayr last weekend.
The return to 7f, where both her wins have come over, is also a plus.
Then ZEPHRYA draws the eye after three silvers, but mainly as Oisin Murphy has been booked to ride.
Yes, she’s looked a bit green in her races and seems to carry her head high, but maybe Murphy can help on that score.
She’s also back to 7f today after not really lasting out over 7 1/2f (2nd) at Beverley last time and trainer Marco Botti has history in this race – winning the pot in 2022.

13:55 NEWMARKET – Tattersalls Online Royal Lodge Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (2yo) 1m ITV
QUICKEN AWAY is the pick away from the exciting Burning Up, who has impressed me with two opening wins too.
The fourth – Zarak Crown, in Burning Up’s last race, has won since to boost the form.
However, the horse that was second to him on debut at Haydock (Arthurian) has been beaten twice since. So some mixed form on show, in by book.
First Law and Quest For Stars will be popular for the very much in-form Charlie Appleby yard too.
Buick picks First Law, who is 2-2 – but the horse he only just beat (Flight Tracker) on debut was stuffed at odds-on in the week.
Acomb Stakes winner Haffner represents the 7-time winner of this race Aidan O’Brien and having been outpaced (and probably outclassed) in the National Stakes last time, will benefit from the step up to a mile.
But, as mentioned, Quicken Away is the pick for top connections Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy, as this Frankel colt has only had two runs and looks the sort to have more in the tank.
He was only beaten a neck on debut at Newbury and improved on that to win well at Goodwood next time.
Making most of the running that day and then living up to his name and ‘quickening away’ to land the spoils by a length.
Balding has a fair record in this race too – winning the pot in 2014 and 2022

14:27 NEWMARKET – Tattersalls Sceptre Sessions Cheveley Park Stakes (Group 1) Cl1 (2yo) 6f ITV
SUN GODDESS is the call to shine again in what looks a crackerjack of a renewal of this Group One.
But you feel this will be her hardest test to date, with the exciting pair Libertango and Senorita Bonita in opposition.
There are form lines tied in all over the place with these three – so there will be people in all their camps.
Including Senorita Bonita beating Libertango by 3/4 of a length at Newmarket in the Duchess Of Cambridge last time.
While Libertango saw off Sun Goddess by a length in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
All three have won since and enhanced their reputations so it really is a tough one, and the Joseph O’Brien-trained Alwaysanangel and improving Moonrise are certainly not out of it either.
However, since losing at Royal Ascot, Sun Goddess has super-charged her form to win four times over 6f and 7f and the form of these wins look solid.
She beat Folsom Blue at the Curragh in the Phoenix Stakes in August and that horse gave that form a shot in the arm by winning the G1 National Stakes after.
With Sun Goddess, there is a small niggle about the drop back to 6f after looking better than ever over 7f last time in the Moyglare.
But I think Ryan Moore will make full use of this and give Aidan O’Brien a seventh Cheveley Park Stakes.

15:00 NEWMARKET – Tattersalls Middle Park Stakes (Group 1) Cl1 (2yo) 6f ITV
INNER CITY BLUES can give trainer Charlie Appleby and jockey William Buick their third straight Middle Park Stakes win – after Shadow Of Light and Wise Approach having won for them in recent years.
Connections have taken their time with this Blue Point colt after a win at York and then taking the G2 July Stakes last time at HQ.
Yes, he only beat two home that day in what was a poor renewal, but he was well on top at the line (1 1/4 lengths) and you feel with the 2 1/2 months off connections have been prepping him for this big G1 end-of-season target.
Of the others Norfolk Stakes winner Orthodox is sure to be better back on a better surface after seemingly not liking the softer ground in France last time.
He was 6th to Senorita Bonita that day in Deauville, so by the time this race comes around that form might look even better if the Crisford horse lands the previous race (Cheveley Park).
Push The Boat Out is a player too, having out-gunned Great Barrier Reef last time at the Curragh and like Inner City Blues heads here 2-2 and still waving the ‘could be anything’ flag.
But with their top recent record in this race, I’m happy to stick with Inner City Blues, to go in again for the ‘Boys In Blue’.

15:40 NEWMARKET – bet365 Cambridgeshire (Heritage Handicap) Cl2 (3yo+) 1m1f ITV
SPANISH VOICE and GAVRIEL are the two against the field in the super-competitive Cambridgeshire Handicap.
One could be sent off favourite (Gavriel) and the other (Spanish Voice) a bigger-priced value play, so there should be something for everyone here.
Starting with Gavriel, this John & Thady Gosden runner caught my eye with a nice win at Ascot last time – on only his fourth career run.
He’s only up 4lbs for that win, which looks more than lenient to me – especially as there likely to be more improvement to come.
Gosden is also the winning-most trainer in the race (5 wins) and four of these came with 3yolds. Oh, and the 2nd that day (Balzac) won well last weekend to boost that form.
There’s a lot to like.
Spanish Voice Is 2-2 On The Rowley Mile
Then Spanish Voice is noted too at a much bigger price, for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy as the pair hunt their first wins in this top autumn handicap.
He was sent off favourite last time at Ascot, but after racing a bit free from the front faded late on.
However, also wasn’t given too hard a time by Colin Keane that day (I counted the whip being used just once).
The other plus is the return to the Rowley Mile though as he’s 2-2 here – winning by an easy 3 1/2 lengths here back in May, with Murphy riding that day too.
So, at a track we know he likes and if you can forgive that last run, then this Balding runner could be the value play in a 28-runner ‘pin-job’ of a race.
Of the rest, I’ll probably also have a small play on Thunder Run too as he represents Karl Burke and Clifford Lee – who has won the last two runnings of the Cambridgeshire.
He was 22nd in the race last year and is now 5lbs higher, but comes here in winning form despite having topweight (10st) the last three winners of this all carried 9st 12lbs.
