Transatlantic ambitions take centre stage at Kentucky Downs on Saturday, September 5, as a high-calibre European contingent crosses the pond to contest the Grade 2 Kentucky Turf Cup Invitational Stakes.
With the race expected to start at 9:56 pm UK time over the undulating 1m4f turf course, the race boasts a staggering £888,890 ($2 million) winner’s purse, luring top-level talent from both sides of the Atlantic.
Breeders’ Cup Hero Ethical Diamond Back In The US
Headlining the European assault is elite jockey Ryan Moore, who teams up with master dual-purpose trainer Willie Mullins aboard Ethical Diamond.
The six-year-old gelding, who captured the 2025 Breeders’ Cup Turf in stunning fashion, enters off a nose victory in a European Group 3.
Moore and Mullins make a formidable pair, having teamed up for many successes at Royal Ascot in the past, as they target the lucrative prize.
With Ethical Diamond opening as the 3/1 second choice.
Adding further spice to the European challenge is Sir Mark Prescott’s ultra-consistent mare Tiffany.
Ridden by regular pilot Luke Morris, the recent Group 1 Grosser Preis von Berlin winner arrives on the back of a career-best form line and commands respect at 9/2 morning-line odds.

The raiding party faces stiff local defence, none more notable than last year’s winner Ole Crazy Bone.
Trained by Michael J. Maker-the all-time winningest trainer at Kentucky Downs-Ole Crazy Bone captured this very race in 2025 as a $100,000 claimer and returns to defend his crown.
Maker also fields Eff Thirty Five as he looks to add to his record tally in the event.

Ryan Moore’s big-money Saturday at Kentucky Downs doesn’t end with the Turf Cup.
Later on the card at 10:36 pm UK time, Moore reteams with Aidan O’Brien to ride Causeway, winner of the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The contest carries a rich history of European dominance.
In 2025, the race was captured by the Frankie Dettori-ridden Wimbledon Hawkeye, following up on Dettori’s 2024 victory aboard Bellum Justum for trainer Andrew Balding.
Moore and O’Brien will look to extend that European hot streak under the Kentucky lights.
Causeway will also face the Hugo Palmer-trained Glacius, plus the Joseph O’Brien raider Nil Bua Gan Dua.
