Andy Newton’s ITV Racing Tips Ascot, Haydock and Wincanton: Saturday 14th February 2026

The ITV Racing schedule on Saturday comes from Haydock, Ascot and Wincanton.

At Ascot, the Ascot Chase is the feature as all eyes will be on Jonbon as he looks to win yet another Grade One – he takes on two-time winner Pic D’orhy, who could become a millionaire if he finishes first or second.

Then at Haydock, it’s the Grand National Trial – a race that is still looking for a winner to then go on and land the ‘big one’ at Aintree.

And finally, at Wincanton, we’ve the Kingwell Hurdle – which is a contest that produced the Champion Hurdle winner last season.

So, to take you through the action you can see ANDY NEWTON’s ITV Racing tips below – as he gives you his quickfire 1-2-3 best bets and key trends.

Let’s get going.

Note: There is a precautionary inspection at Wincanton and Haydock on Saturday at 8:00am

ASCOT ITV Racing Tips: Saturday 14th February 2026 🏇

Ooh Betty Ascot

1:15 Ascot – Betfair Novices’ Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl2 (5yo+) 2m3½f ITV

Catchintsavo won well at Ludlow last time and the second has won since to frank the form.

While Etna Bianco should find this easier than running 5th in the Challow Hurdle last time at Newbury.

Mondoui’boy is the likely favourite and was also a likeable winner last time at Ludlow.

But the slightly better value is STARZAND, who we know won’t mind the ground.

He won on soft back in October at Ffos Las and has since run the promising Bossman Jack, who bolted up at Chepstow on Friday, to 1 3/4 lengths,

1:50 Ascot – Injured Jockeys Fund Ambassadors Programme Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase (Grade 2) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 3m ITV

With Thomas Mor now a non-runner, this should pave the way for THE JUKEBOX KID to land this.

This Ben Pauling runner was a good winner over CD last time and with form on heavy ground, then conditions will be fine too.

He also beat Grande Geste back in November and with that horse having won the Tommy Whittle since, that form looks fair too. While Montregard, who he beat into second last time, runs in the 3pm here on Saturday.

Western Knight can do best of the rest, with the Tizzard yard having a fair record in this race (winning four of the last 7).

2:25 Ascot – Betfair Exchange Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 2m3½f ITV

Listentoyourheart is up 5lbs for a recent Windsor win and has to be noted, along with Act Of Authority for the Olly Murphy yard with Lewis Saunders taking off a handy 5lbs.

But the two of interest here are CAPTAIN TEAGUE and LIGHTNINGUPOURDAYS.

The former landed the Challow Hurdle back in 2023 but has not really backed that up since. But despite being pulled up last time at Windsor ran well for much of the way – just didn’t get home.

Is back in trip today to 2m 3 1/2f and the Paul Nicholls yard couldn’t be in much better form – coming into today on a 39% SR.

Then Lightningupyourdays is also noted, having run well to be third last time at Hereford. That came after 11 months off so should be better for the outing and also ran the promising Wendigo to 5 lengths last season.

🥈LIGHTNINGUPOURDAYS

🥉ACT OF AUTHORITY

3:00 Ascot – Betfair Swinley Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 3m ITV

Skelton’s Joyeux Machin is certainly well-handicapped on old form and was in the process of running a big race last time until falling. But his last win was still back in 2023 at Wexford, which is the worry.

If The Jukebox Kid runs well in the 1:50, this will give a big pointer to the 7yold Montregard, who was second to him last time.

But 13 of the last 15 winners were aged 8 or older.

The 9yold Hunter Legend fits the bill on the age front, but the Venetia Williams yard have struggling for winners at the moment and all five wins have been over shorter. The yard have, however, won 3 of the last 9 runnings of this race.

So a chance is taken on the old boy THREEUNDERTHRUFIVE, who hails from the in-form Paul Nicholls yard.

He won this race in 2024 and is 5lbs lower on that, while was a close runner-up in 2025 and is now 6lbs lower – but is, of course, another year older at 11.

3:35 Ascot – Betfair Ascot Chase (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 2m5f ITV

The winner of this race for the last two years Pic d’Orhy loves it here at Ascot – winning five times at the Berkshire track.

He needs to finish first or second to become a millionaire too, but is now 11 and after running flat here last time, you feel there are signs the hands of time might just be catching up with him.

Therefore, the safer call is to side with JONBON, who is already a million winner (£1.5m) and heads here after a good win in the Clarence House Chase.

He’s 3-3 at Ascot too, so we know the track suits and has been crying out for another try upped in trip.

Jonbon is taken to land his 12th Grade One here and then maybe head to Cheltenham for the Ryanair Chase.

HAYDOCK ITV Racing Tips: Saturday 14th February, 2026 🏇

2:05 Haydock – ZYN Rendlesham Hurdle (Grade 2) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 3m½f ITV

Henri The Second will love the ground after bolting up on heavy conditions at Sandown the last time – but this company will be harder.

French Ship is a likeable horse too that has two nice wins at Cheltenham and Newbury to his name, but was a tad disappointing at Kempton in the Lanzarote Hurdle last time.

But both might be hard-pressed to topple the exciting KABRAL DU MATHAN, who could head to the Stayers’ Hurdle after this, where he’s 14/1.

This Dan Skelton runner is 2-2 since joining the yard from Paul Nicholls at the end of the summer, where he also had a wind op.

Recent wins came over 2m3f and 2m4f, but the step up to 3m 1/2 here looks within range and he’s taken to improve even more for the extra yardage.

🥈HENRI THE SECOND

🥉FRENCH SHIP

2:40 Haydock – Haydock Park Albert Bartlett Prestige Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 3m½f ITV

Dalston Lad did it well last time here and could go well again but the softer ground here is the slight unknown.

Reckless Spending is another that should go well, from the Nicky Henderson yard, and won well at Kempton the last day.

However, the two of interest are the Olly Murphy horses – Lon Chaney and UBATUBA. Both head here off wins the last day, but the last-named caught the eye and is also rated 6lbs higher.

Ben Sutton rides again and will come here now 2-2 over hurdles and with winning form on heavy/soft, then conditions will also be fine.

Sean Bowen rides Lon Chaney, so don’t even rule out a Olly Murphy 1-2.

🥇UBATUBA
🥈LON CHANEY

🥉DALSTON LAD

3:15 Haydock – William Hill Half A Mill Grand National Trial Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 3m4½f ITV

No horse has ever won this ‘so-called’ trial and then taken the ‘big one’ at Aintree in April – but some have landed both in different seasons – Red Rum, Party Politics, Freebooter and Sundew.

This year’s renewal is tricky too, with a stack of chances – including the much-hyped Myretown, who is on a recovery mission after falling in the Hennessy and only 4th in the Peter Marsh.

Deafening Silence was a decent third in the Welsh National to Haiti Couleurs and that form has been franked since with the winner taking the Denman Chase.

Holokea is an unexposed chaser to note, while Rivers Corner will love the ground and Monbeg Genius also ran a fair race in the Welsh National (5th).

But chances are taken on RICHMOND LAKE, who we know loves it here at Haydock. With form that reads 2-1-3-2 and was last seen running an excellent second in the Peter Marsh.

While GIT MAKER is also respected. He was pulled up the last day at Chepstow in the Welsh National but was also third in this race last season and is back rated 9lbs lower.

WINCANTON ITV Racing Tips: Saturday 14th February, 2026 🏇

1:35 Wincanton – BetMGM Kingwell Hurdle (Grade 2) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 1m7f ITV

No Golden Ace, who won this last season, so this should be left to Ruband and ALEXEI.

The former likes it here at Wincanton – with three wins, but the worry for this Paul Nicholls horse would be the ground.

His form with some give underfoot reads 5-5-7-7-2-5-2.

Whereas Alexei has winning form on soft when taking the Greatwood Hurdle.

He’s since been a bit disappointing at Ascot just before Christmas, but has been freshened up with 56 days off and also gets a handy 2lbs from Rubaud.

Alexei is 25/1 for the Champion Hurdle – which might not be bad value in a race that doesn’t look strong this season and might cut up. Especially as we know Alexei handles Prestbury Park.

🥈RUBAUD
