I SAW the request for ‘nuggets of nostalgia’ and it triggered off some of my own memories which I offer for your interest.
My father put my first bet on. 2/6d on Babur in the 1957 Lincoln Handicap. Eddie Hide rode it to win at 25/1. I was hooked on betting from the age of 12!
