When my mobile rang recently with an invitation to go racing at Plumpton I managed to persuade my wife that it wasn’t a good weather day to bash – or, these days, swipe - the credit card. Anthony Jones’s offer was immediately accepted as it was a good opportunity to check on the well-being of his Racing Ahead-adopted filly Olivia Jane.
