Our resident tipster Ben Morgan selects his best bets for day two at the Ebor Festival
York 1.50 – Crisford filly could cause upset
I quite like DANDANA here for the Crisford team, who is currently trading at 20/1. She has won both her starts to date, albeit at Kempton and Ripon, and could now have more to offer upped in grade.
The latter race at Ripon was a trappy contest with the re-opposing Pearl Fortune and a well-regarded O’Meara filly also involved in the finish.
Her connections are no strangers to harbouring a smart two-year-old, and I think she might be a bit better than her form lines suggest. A likely frontrunner here, she might just catch a few on the back foot.
York 3.00 – Bunbury Cup 2nd more than good enough to win this
A blowout last time out has inflated the price of AALTO here, but I’m a forgiving punter and am willing to give him another chance.
His previous second at Newmarket in a competitive handicap like this was boosted in no uncertain terms at the weekend, and he and the winner pulled clear.
I think his run at Ascot is best ignored as it was too bad to be true and with a plum draw here, I think he can make amends.
York 5.20 – Handicapper May Not have stopped improving Beckett filly
A tough fillies handicap to end proceedings on Day 2, which can go the way of MAYBE NOT, who looks to have a bit more up her sleeve based on her Kempton win last week.
Regular readers will know I have been following her most of the season, and she has proven profitable to follow, but I don’t think her improvement has finished just yet.
She seemed to have plenty in the tank at Kempton last week, and although quicker ground here is a question mark, a nice draw and low weight will certainly aid her chance.
