Ben Morgan’s Saturday Newbury tips – Poet could be Epic

‘s resident tipster Ben Morgan gives his best bets at on Saturday

Newbury 1.50 – Poet could be Epic in a weak Group 3

The Geoffrey Freer stakes looks a good opportunity for EPIC POET to get his head back in front again. David O’Meara’s charge is yet to announce himself at this level in this country, but this race could just play into his hands.

I’m not convinced with any of his rivals and their level of form, but my selection tends to run his race more often than not and if anywhere near the level of form which saw him run Rebel Romance close earlier in the season, then he will be winning this.

Newbury 3.00 – Classic looks the obvious choice in 7f handicap

‘s looks to have a favourite’s chance here, especially given the lack of pace up front.

He proved at that he is more than capable of making his own running, and his recent run at Ascot shows his current level of form.

That form line has been boosted already, and if Sean Levey can get the fractions right up front, I can’t see anyone catching him on this quick ground.

I will give a mention to DOCUMENTING, whose look a bit big given his course record here at Newbury.

Usually held up, he requires a good pace to run at, but his recent form has shown he still has plenty to offer despite his advancing years.

He could provide each way punters with a run for their money.

Newbury 3.35 – Tom to Thunder home once More

With Witness Stand, Duty First, Spy Chief and Rage Of Bamby all solid pace angles here, I suggest this could set the race up for a finisher.

MORE THUNDER is just that but has to prove he is up to this level after proving himself a progressive handicapper already this season.

He has always threatened to be a Group performer but now seems to have found his right trip he could now realise his obvious potential.

Haggas has a good record in this race and I fancy him to enhance that on Saturday.
