Paul Ferguson: Calandagan can revel in Epsom Derby coronation

Although he has yet to score at Group 1 level, last year’s impressive King Edward VII Stakes winner Calandagan is fancied to land the Coronation Cup at Epsom, on Friday June 6.

The French-trained 4yo went on to run a fine race behind City Of Troy in the Juddmonte International at York and also when runner-up in the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot.
The Gleneagles gelding made a pleasing return to action in the Dubai Sheema Classic and looks set for another fruitful campaign, and it will be a surprise if he can’t strike at the top level in the coming weeks/months.
